Robert Schwartzman
Co-Founder
Robert Schwartzman began his career in the music industry as songwriter and front man for platinum-selling and global touring band, ROONEY. In 2016, he directed and produced the feature film, DREAMLAND, which made its world debut in competition at the Tribeca Film Festival where it was picked up for distribution and can be seen on Netflix. His follow up feature film, THE UNICORN, debuted in competition at the SXSW Film Festival 2018 and was recently released in theaters and is currently available on-demand. In 2017, Schwartzman founded NEW BRIDGE, the first US independent feature film program at the Shanghai International Film Festival. Schwartzman has been active in the tech startup space for a decade.

Prior to joining Utopia, David Betesh headed global sales for Gunpowder & Sky. At Gunpowder, Betesh closed precedent setting distribution deals on tastemaker titles including, THE LITTLE HOURS, starring Aubrey Plaza, RKSS’s critically acclaimed Sundance thriller, SUMMER OF 84, Brett Haley’s Sundance charmer HEARTS BEAT LOUD, starring Nick Offerman, Vice Studios and 20th Century Fox’s LORDS OF CHAOS, starring Rory Culkin, SXSW award winner, PROSPECT, starring Pedro Pascal, and Alex Ross Perry’s TIFF premiere, HER SMELL, starring Elisabeth Moss. Betesh has direct relationships with every major domestic, international and worldwide TV and SVOD buyer and with every top independent distributor internationally. Prior to Gunpowder, Betesh was at Creative Artists Agency in Television Packaging.
